NATIONAL CHIEF-SETTER

POSITION: NATIONAL CHIEF-SETTER (NCS) at SET Routesetting

Are you a highly skilled Chief Routesetter with at least five years of experience?
Do you have a proven track record in training, coaching, and managing a routesetting team? Do you love details and strive for perfection?

As a National Chief Setter, you will be part of the national team of SET, a group of experienced, well-trained professional routesetters. You will be responsible for creating high-quality routes and boulders across several lead and boulder gyms throughout the Netherlands. In this role, you will also train and coach junior routesetters and deliver workshops and courses for both internal development and commercial purposes. When opportunities arise, you can take on external projects through SET as well.

At the NCC (National Climbing Center), you will oversee and organize the logistics behind the routesetting process. This new climbing centre is currently under construction and will become a state-of-the-art climbing and bouldering facility for beginners, intermediates, and elite athletes.

POSITION

  • 4 to 5 days per week - 8-9 hour shifts

  • Dynamic work environment in several gyms

  • Travelling is necessary (carpool options available)

  • Setting high-quality lead routes & boulders (commercial & competitions)

  • Organizing tasks related to the routesetting product

  • Managing, coaching and training a team of routesetters

  • Maintaining a safe and pleasant working environment

    YOU

  • Are a highly experienced setter in both lead and boulder

  • Have to experience training and coaching a team of routesetters

  • Have the ability and vision to take on organisational tasks related to routesetting

  • Are comfortable forerunning 8b lead / 8A boulder

  • You have experience with setting (inter)national lead and/or boulder comps

  • Have a keen eye for detail and strive for perfection in quality

  • Are respectful, open and honest towards colleagues

  • Are a great teamplayer

  • Work efficiently and safe, following the set guidelines

  • Have a formal routesetter license like WRB3 (NKBV) or USAC L1 (USA Climbing)

  • Are fluent in English

  • Have EU citizenship (preferably)
