German Route Setting Championship 2025

Routesetters are the secret stars of the climbing gyms. They continually create new routes in the more than 300 climbing gyms in Germany. Their creativity is crucial to the quality of the sports facilities and the satisfaction of climbing guests. At competitions, routesetters create excitement for the audience and entertain athletes and spectators alike with their movement creations.

Idea

The German Route Setting Championship is intended to give route setters a platform to showcase their skills and prove themselves in a competition for the overall national title.

Germany's best routesetters will compete in a nationwide competition for the first time in October. In three independent qualification rounds, four out of 12 routesetters will qualify for the finals. The top 12 will then compete in the finals for the championship title. The procedure is the same for both the qualification rounds and the finals:

In the morning, participants set a route using randomly assigned holds; in the afternoon, the climbing public can climb and judge the routes.
